Hairlines, crowns and density work, each planned and performed by Karl.

Thinning on top and a receding front. Now a full, even look with a hairline that suits his face.
Karl rebuilt the hairline to suit his face shape and added even density across the top, blended into the hair on the sides and back for one natural, cohesive look.

A natural, soft hairline that suits his age and face shape.
A standard full scalp procedure. Unless you have a skin or hair condition, you don’t lose the hair on the sides and back of your head, so the top is blended into them. His treatment was a natural, soft hairline that complements his age and face shape.

Pigment under the hair hides thinning and blends right in.
A density fill over 3 sessions. The goal is to add pigment under the hair to camouflage bald spots or thinning, blending into the natural hair so it isn’t obvious to anyone looking. A great option if you still have a good amount of hair but it’s thinning.

Density added through the hair, with a soft, natural hairline.
Karl added density through the hair for a more cohesive, even look, together with a soft, natural hairline reconstruction.

Her part had widened. Pigment between the hairs makes it look fuller, with no change to her length.
Many women first notice thinning along the part, where the scalp starts to show through. Karl placed pigment between the hairs along the part line, matched to her hair color, so the scalp shows less and the part looks fuller. She keeps her length and styles her hair as before.

Wears his hair longer, but it had thinned. Pigment underneath makes it look thicker.
Not everyone wants to shave their head. Here the hair is worn longer, and the SMP sits underneath, between the hairs. The pigment darkens the scalp to match the hair, so the hair looks thicker without changing the haircut.

A lighter, less saturated finish for an extra natural look.
A standard full scalp procedure for advanced hair loss. Karl went for a less aggressive, less saturated look to keep it extra natural. Some clients don’t want the really dark look and prefer a lighter, more natural finish.

Thinning at the hairline and temples, most visible with her hair pulled back. Now it looks fuller.
Thinning at the temples shows most when the hair is tied back. Karl added pigment along the hairline and into the temples, between the existing hairs, so the scalp shows less and the hairline looks fuller, even in a ponytail. Her own hair and length stay exactly as they were.

Density throughout, with a crisp, defined hairline.
Another standard full scalp treatment, with a hard hairline. Density was added throughout and blended into the sides and back, finished with a crisp, defined hairline.

Bald on top with hair on the sides. Now one even, natural look all over.
Karl added density across the top and blended it into the existing hair on the sides and back, so the whole head reads as one even, natural shade.

A crisp, barbershop-style line-up for a freshly cut look.
A hard hairline line-up, built over 3 sessions. More of a barbershop style, it creates a very crisp, freshly lined-up appearance.

The questions everyone asks.
Scalp micropigmentation places thousands of fine, layered pigment impressions in the scalp to replicate the look of hair follicles. It doesn’t grow hair. It changes how your hair and scalp read.

Does SMP look like real hair?
Looks like a fresh cut
Up close, it looks like very short, freshly cut hair. Karl uses several shades and different dot sizes, so it doesn’t look flat or printed. Most people you meet won’t know you’ve had anything done.

About a 2 out of 10
Most clients rate it about a 2 out of 10, more uncomfortable than painful, a bit like a light scratch. You can take breaks whenever you need, and Karl checks in with you as he works.
Usually 2–3
Most people need two to three sessions, about a week or two apart. Each session adds a layer: the first lays a light foundation, the second adds density and definition, and the third finishes the look. That’s what makes the result even and natural.
About 2–3 hours
A session usually takes about 2–3 hours, depending on the area being treated. You can take breaks whenever you need.
Not when it’s done correctly
Done correctly, SMP doesn’t change color. It only softens over time. Karl uses specialized pigments and works far shallower than a traditional tattoo. When ink goes too deep, it spreads, stops looking like a hair follicle and can turn blue or green, which is why proper technique matters.
Usually 4–6 years
With proper care, SMP usually lasts about 4–6 years. Like any pigment it softens slowly over time, so most people come back for a light touch-up to keep it sharp.
No
SMP sits in the skin between your hairs. It doesn’t damage your hair follicles or change how your hair grows.
Yes
Many women choose SMP for thinning on top or a widening part. Karl adds fine pigment between the hairs, so the scalp shows through less and the hair looks fuller. You keep your length and your style.
Yes
If you don’t want to shave, SMP can go underneath longer hair. It darkens the scalp to match your hair, so your hair looks thicker without changing your style.
Simple aftercare
For a few days, keep your scalp dry and avoid the gym, heavy sweating and direct sun. Karl gives you clear instructions and you can message him with any questions.
Similar, but finer
It uses similar tools, but the pigment, needles and depth are made for tiny dots that look like hair follicles. It’s a cosmetic treatment, not a medical one, and it doesn’t make hair grow.
Usually $1,000–$3,500
The price depends on the area and how many sessions you need. You’ll know your exact price after the free consultation, before you commit to anything.
Where the pigment goes
Karl places tiny dots of pigment in the upper layer of the skin, where they look like the base of short hair. It’s shallower than a regular tattoo and never reaches your hair follicles.
- Minimal discomfortMost clients describe it as light and easy to handle.
- About 2–3 hoursPer session, depending on the area.
- Usually 4–6 yearsWith proper care and a light touch-up.
SMP is a cosmetic tattoo treatment, not a medical procedure or a cure for hair loss. Karl will talk you through what’s realistic for your scalp at your consultation.
